Ernie’s Preaching Throughout January
For those of you who’ve missed Ernie’s inspiring messages from the pulpit, you can find him preaching every Sunday in January (except the 16th), at St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Church.
Services start at 10AM, and the church is at 579 Parkdale Avenue, in Ottawa. There’ll be some music, too — hope to see you there!
A Video From the Christmas Gospel Celebration!
Merry Christmas everyone! The concerts were amazingly successful, we want to thank everyone for coming, and we’ll post a recap about the whole night once Christmas calms down a bit.
In the meantime, though, here’s a video (shot with my iPhone) of the whole group, with Andrea Karam soloing, doing Jesus, What a Wonderful Child. Have a wonderful Christmas!
Hey, everyone. Already there’s quite a buzz going around for the upcoming Christmas Gospel Celebration at the NAC Studio Hall, December 17 and 18.
Last February we sold out two nights of blues and gospel at the 4th stage – the tickets were gone two weeks early. The NAC people suggested we go for a larger venue this time, so instead of the 4th Stage, with tables and chairs and room for 150, we’re moving into an auditorium-type setting with tiered seating, where every one of the 300 seats affords a great view.
Again, we’ll have some of Ottawa’s best musicians making up the band, along with a horn section featuring Michael Webster from New York City – he’s doing the horn arrangements, and will also be playing sax with the horn section as well as soloing.
Our core singers will be the London Trio Plus +, giving us eight voices, along with some additional singers, bringing the choir to about 15. Local and legendary blues/jazz singer Andrea Karam will be singing with the backup group, and she’ll solo as well.
We’re planning for two sell-out evenings, with some grand and glorious gospel, and the addition of some uplifting and stirring Christmas gospel which will surely get your hands clapping and toes tapping.
As well, we’re going to devote part of the evening to some of your favourite carols. So come planning to sing! The ushers will be handing out booklets with words, so you can sing along to some of the carols with the band and the choir – all in soulful gospel style.
Once more, we’re anticipating a sell-out both evenings, with the goal of making A Christmas Gospel Celebration an annual tradition.
So get your tickets early! You can buy them online or at the NAC box office. Come and bring your friends – hope to see you there!
A Christmas Gospel Celebration at the NAC
The dates are confirmed! Get ready for two unforgettable evenings of gospel music, just in time for Christmas — December 17th and 18th.
This time, Ernie’s moving up to the larger NAC Studio Hall, as he & his band bring you two evenings of spectacular music, along with a 15-voice choir and horn section. These are two great nights we’re calling a Christmas Gospel Celebration — you’ll be hearing and signing the carols in true gospel style.
These are going to be Ernie’s biggest and best concerts yet — guaranteed to inspire and delight.
Tickets are $30 plus HST and facility fees, bringing them to $36.59.
You can buy them online right here. Sadly there’s an extra fee (of $6.50!) if you buy your tickets online that we couldn’t get around — so if you’re anywhere near downtown, avoid those service charges and just get them at the NAC Box Office instead.
Book early — Ernie’s last two shows completely sold out almost 2 weeks in advance.
More to come!
