Ernie in the Ottawa Citizen

Some of you might have seen the article on Ernie and his new CD in the Ottawa Citizen’s arts section on Saturday, but just in case you missed it, we’ve saved an online version right here, too (it’s a .PDF file).

Bruce Ward did a great profile on Ernie’s career, the new disc, and a whole bunch of other good stuff — covering Ernie’s voice, a brief history of gospel music, and some anecdotes from the recording in Montreal.

We’re officially out of tickets for Saturday, February 20th. That means all remaining tickets for Friday’s show are going fast, and the chances of there being any at the door are pretty much zero at this point!

Remember, you can still get your tickets for Friday’s show online from the NAC box office, or get them at 53 Elgin Street in person.

Ernie’s upcoming shows at the NAC 4th stage are less than three weeks away!

And speaking of which, we just got an update on the ticket situation — Saturday, February 20th is almost completely sold out, and tickets for Friday the 19th are going fast, too. These are intimate, limited-capacity shows, with table seating, and just like Ernie’s last concert, it’s extremely unlikely there will be any tickets at the door. Time to get yours now!

Alright, they’re finally here — we’ve got 5 amazing excerpts from Ernie’s new studio album, One More Time. You can stream or download them using the player on the right of this page.

Plus — if you want to put the whole sampler into iTunes or onto your mp3 player, we’ve collected them into a .zip file, which you can download right here. We hope it tides you over — we’re only a month away from the CD release!

A little more about the disc:

It’s got 15 tracks.
10 are blues & jazz numbers,
While 5 are classic gospel cuts.
Find it in local Ottawa stores, via mail-order from Ernie’s store, and online through iTunes.
Will be out no later than February 15th (we’ll know the exact date shortly!)

New Tracks Are Coming Soon

We’re happy to say that Ernie’s new CD, to be called One More Time, is almost ready to go. Just a few final touches on the mixing and mastering — everything is on track for a February release, and you’ll be able to get the CD at Ernie’s upcoming NAC concerts.

We’ll also be posting a few sample tracks from the CD in the next week or two — we’ll let you know when they go up. The CD is a huge step forward — with a full band, horn section, and choir, this is Ernie’s music in a great new context.

CD Release Concert Dates Are Here!

As Ernie’s brand-new CD gets closer and closer to release, we’re happy to announce a return to the NAC’s Fourth Stage for two nights of wonderful blues and gospel music, celebrating the release of the CD.

Tickets are already available on the NAC website — either night is just $25 (update: tickets are now sold out). The dates are February 19th and 20th — Friday and Saturday.

As before, Ernie will be bringing a full band, gospel singers, and even a horn section to both nights. It’s going to be an unforgettable couple of shows.
